1. II Kings 21:13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down. 14 And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;
2.The king was not to multiply horses, wives,or silver and gold
Deut. 17:14: When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, . . .and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me; 15: Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee:
thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother. 16: But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way. 17: Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. 18: And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: 19: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: 20: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
3. The one king who obviously leads the pack in these areas is Solomon. Wisdom did not prevent disobedience. Horses - I Kings 4:26-28; II Chron. 9:28; Wives - I Kings 11:1-8; Gold & Silver - I Kings 10:14-29; II Chron. 9:13-28 Obviously, there is some overlapping, but these texts clearly show that Solomon, to his injury, did not comply with the commands of his God." Also note this striking passage about the horses "imported from Egypt." I Kings 10:28. And silver was as common in Jerusalem as stones. How much more could Solomon have done to violate every aspect of the "law for kings" from Deuteronomy 17.
4.The man who thinks he knows, knows nothing as he ought to. He is unaware of his lack of knowledge.
I Cor. 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
5."addiction to serving the saints." I Cor. 16:15: "I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)..."
6.Ezekiel 34:17-31, esp. vs. 21. God identifies these sheep as representing men, and himself as the owner of the sheep in verses 22 and 31. The context proves that the livestock (cattle) are of the sheep kind, and represent strong men attacking the weak.
